There are two types of amusement rides & devices:
- Non-Itinerant
- Itinerant
Non-Itinerant rides include go-karts installed in a fixed location for longer than 12 months, itinerant rides are rides other than non-itinerant.
Classifications of Rides
Class A
A coaster ride or similar ride that travels more than 500 metres; or an amusement ride that has highly complex features or controls.
Regulated Class A amusement rides & devices in Saskatchewan include:
- Pendulum rides
- Roller coasters
- Spinning or lifting midway rides
There are currently no Class A rides in Saskatchewan.
Class B
A coaster ride or similar ride that travels 500 metres or less; or has one or more of the following characteristics:
- Transports passengers to a height exceeding 6 metres
- Tilts passengers more than 45 degrees from horizontal
- Has more than 8 passenger-carrying units
- Has a total passenger capacity exceeding 30
Regulated Class B amusement rides & devices in Saskatchewan include:
- Bumper cars
- Carousel
- Dark ride
- Drop tower
- Ferris wheel
- Flume ride
- Pendulum ride
- Roller coaster
- Spinning or lifting midway
- Swing ride
- Train ride
Class C
Any adult amusement ride other than Class A, Class B or Class C Inflatables. Any kiddie amusement ride that has none of the characteristics listed under Class B.
Regulated Class C amusement rides & devices in Saskatchewan include:
- Carousel
- Dark ride
- Kiddie Ride
- Roller coaster
- Spinning or lifting midway
- Swing ride
Class C Inflatables
Class C Inflatable Amusement Rides & Devices are classified as inflatable air-supported structures only. These inflatable structures require a constant air supply.
Regulated Class C inflatable amusement rides & devices in Saskatchewan include:
- Standard inflatable bounce houses
- Inflatable obstacle courses
- Inflatable wet or dry slides
Go-Karts
Go-Kart Amusement Rides & Devices are classified as Adult or Kiddie.
