If the food truck is new to the province or has never been previously inspected in Saskatchewan, you will need to hire a licensed Gas Contractor who will apply for a permit.
If the food truck is new to you but has been inspected in Saskatchewan previously, you do not require a new permit. Your local municipality may require a re-certification, contact them for specific requirements.

Contact TSASK to confirm if the food truck has been previously inspected, you will need to provide the Vehicle Identification Number.
If TSASK has previously inspected the food truck, a sticker with the date the inspection was passed should be located on the unit.

- You will need to provide TSASK with your contact information and the Vehicle Identification Number. We will issue an application for you to complete.

To qualify for a Gas Fitter licence you need a letter from the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission showing your successful examination results and the date your achieved this.
Not all Gas Fitters achieve their qualifications from SaskApprenticeship – we require proof of qualifications, either a Certificate of Qualifications from another province, or a letter of exam results from SaskApprenticeship.

When working in Saskatchewan, two different licences are required:
- The Gas Fitter licence is for the individual to be allowed to perform the work in the province as a qualified Gas Fitter. We require a copy of their credentials as proof of qualifications to issue the licence; and
- The Gas Contractor licence is for the business/company to pull the permits through TSASK Inspections. We require a Gas Contractor’s guarantee bond to issue the licence.

Surety bonds protect consumers by ensuring licensed gas and electrical contractors adhere to their legal responsibilities to correct non-compliant work. Currently, a $10,000 surety bond is required of both gas and electrical contractors in Saskatchewan.

Legally you can request a copy of any permit for work performed on your property. This applies to all plumbing, gas, or electrical work. If a contractor is unwilling to supply a copy of a permit, please call TSASK toll free at 1-866-530-8599.

Once the review is complete, you will receive an email with a payment link. Upon receipt of payment, the field approval document will be available for download. Payment options are by credit card online, eft, or by cheque.

You must have a registered GEIS account to submit field approvals.
If you are a gas or electrical contractor with a GEIS account, or an applicant with an electrical plans account, you can access the portal under the “New” menu.
If you are not registered, you will need to create an account by following these steps:
- Go to GEIS to create a username and password.
- Once your registration is submitted, you will receive an email with a link to verify your email address.
- Your registration will be pending TSASK approval. You will receive an email that your account has been activated. Please allow up to 2 business days for registration approval.

All gas and electrical contractors, and electrical plans applicants who already have a GEIS account will have access to submit gas field approvals.

There are two types of user accounts, Company Administrator and Normal Users.
- Company Administrators can add or remove users, reset a user’s password, enter and submit field approvals, and pay for field approvals. It is recommended that you have at least two Company Administrators for the account.

Yes, you will see progress in real time with one of the following statuses:
- Submitted – Your field approval application has been received.
- In Review – Your application has been assigned. The review process has started.
- Returned – The review process has stopped. It was determined that submission requirements were not met. It will remain in the “return” status until the missing information or documents are added to the application and resubmitted.
- Authorized – Your field approval application has been authorized and is ready for the next steps-payment, permitting, and inspection.
- Cleared – The permit has been received, and the field approval inspection is complete.
- Cancelled – Your field approval application has been cancelled.

We will no longer accept field approvals through the mail or by email. You must have a GEIS account to submit field approvals.

If you did not include all the required documents with your submission, your application will be ‘returned’ and removed from the queue. Once you have uploaded the required documents to the application, your submission will be placed back in the queue the day it was resubmitted.
