Learn more about how to certify a food truck in Saskatchewan.

TSASK Gas Inspectors are responsible for ensuring that food trucks comply with provincial safety codes and standards. Food trucks must undergo inspection and obtain a permit to operate in Saskatchewan.

Only a Licensed Saskatchewan Gas Contractor is authorized to submit a permit on behalf of a food truck owner. A permit is required in the following instances:

  • For a newly constructed or new-to-Saskatchewan food truck, trailer, or cart
  • When an appliance is added or replaced and/or the piping is altered

Once the permit has been submitted, the food truck owner contacts TSASK at geis@tsask.ca or 1-866-530-8599 to arrange for the inspection. Upon successful completion of the inspection, TSASK will issue a sticker to be placed in a visible location where customer orders are received.

Re-certification when required by the municipality

If the food truck was previously inspected in Saskatchewan, a new permit is not required. However, local municipalities may necessitate re-certification; please contact your municipality for specific requirements.

Re-certification is conducted under a Special Inspection and does not require a gas permit from a Licensed Gas Contractor.

To request a Special Inspection for Re-certification of a food truck, trailer, or cart, please contact geis@tsask.ca or call 1-866-530-8599.
