Licensing
Pressure Equipment Inspector
Licensed Pressure Equipment Inspectors (LPEI)
Licensed Pressure Equipment Inspectors (LPEI) are required for companies performing inspections under a Quality Management System of Inspections (QMS).
In accordance with the Boiler & Pressure Vessels Regulations, an owner, insurer or inspection company must ensure that any inspection completed under an approved QMS program is conducted by a Licensed Pressure Equipment Inspector whose licence authorizes the holder to conduct that inspection.
New equipment installations require an acceptance inspection to be performed by a TSASK inspector but may occur following the installation inspection and equipment being placed into operation. For further details of the scope of Licensed Pressure Equipment Inspectors, refer to section 101 of The Boiler & Pressure Vessels Regulations, 2017.
It is possible to hold a licence authorizing the scope of work for an LPEI while not holding a Certificate of Qualification issued by TSASK. In order to be the Designated Pressure Equipment Inspector (Company Chief Inspector) for a QMS program, an LPEI must apply for a Certificate of Qualification.
