General/Full Electrical Contractor

Overview

A General Electrical Contractor, also referred to as a Full Electrical Contractor, is a registered business owner who employs an Electrical Journeyperson to do electrical work. The business must have at least one Electrical Journeyperson who has had their red seal for a minimum of 2 years.

This Electrical Journeyperson is the qualifier for the business cannot be employed by any other licensed Electrical Contractor or employer while listed on the contractor’s list of employed Journeypersons. The Journeyperson listed for the company must hold a valid Electrical Journeyperson’s licence.

Electrical contractors must be bonded, a registered business with The Corporate Registry, Information Services Corporation (ISC) and be licensed with TSASK.

How do I become a Licensed Electrical Contractor?

  1. Ensure you have a qualifying Electrical Journeyperson (yourself or someone else) who has had their red seal for a minimum of 2 years. See our Licensed Contractor or Operator directory for a list of all active Electrical Journeypersons.
  2. Purchase an Electrical Contractor’s Surety Bond at an insurance agency. The minimum guarantee amount is $10,000.
  3. Submitting your bond to TSASK:
    1. The insurer can email a copy of the bond to gelicensing@tsask.ca.
    2. The email must include the following declaration in the body of the email: “The attached is a true copy of the original bond as issued.”

FIND AN ELECTRICAL JOURNEYPERSON
