Overview
A Gas Permit is required to perform all gas work in your home, on your farm or in your place of business. This includes new gas installations and any changes to existing gas lines or equipment. A permit is required before any work begins.
Only Gas Contractors are permitted to perform gas installations and request a permit. A Gas Permit ensures that the Gas Contractor is authorized to perform gas work.
What to Expect from a Gas Contractor
The Gas Contractor should provide a copy of the Gas Permit before work begins. This ensures that the contractor is:
- Licensed in Saskatchewan.
- Following the law.
- Approved to do the work.
- Obligated to take corrective action in the event of an issue.
Gas Inspections
The Gas Permit and Inspection system establishes the safe use of Gas equipment by customers and licensed Gas Contractors. A Gas Inspector reviews every gas installation detailed on the Gas Permit and may decide to conduct an inspection.
A Gas Inspection includes your furnace, chimney, piping and gas appliances.
